All Grades
Across all grades, we foster a love for reading and encourage students to explore books for fun and personal enjoyment.

Students and staff have access to a variety of databases for research and reading, including our e-books and audiobooks, and databases linked on the left. For MackinVIA, students login with their school Google Accounts. All other Cranbury School logins are shared with students directly.

Library and Media Skills Overview: Grades PreK-5

In our library and media program, students develop essential skills for reading, researching, and navigating information, tailored to their grade level.

Grades PreK-2
Our youngest students focus on foundational library skills. They learn to identify the roles of authors and illustrators, explore a variety of book genres, and understand the difference between fiction and nonfiction. These early lessons help them become comfortable in the library and excited about books.

Grades 3-5
As students progress, they shift to media skills that build research and critical thinking abilities. Third through fifth graders learn to conduct research, evaluate sources for credibility and relevance, and organize information effectively. They are introduced to essential tools for becoming informed, thoughtful users of information.

6th Grade Research Technology Class

In 6th grade Research Technology, students meet once every six-day letter rotation to build essential skills for navigating today’s digital world and understanding personal finance.

First Semester: Digital Citizenship and Media Literacy
During the first half of the year, students develop digital citizenship and media literacy skills. They learn how to responsibly and ethically use online resources, including how to properly cite sources, evaluate the credibility of news media, and make informed choices when selecting sources. These skills empower them to think critically about the information they encounter online.

Second Semester: Financial Literacy
The second half of the year introduces foundational financial literacy concepts. Students explore the value of saving, borrowing, and investing money, along with understanding credit cards and responsible financial decisions. Through hands-on activities and engaging discussions, they build a strong base for future financial responsibility.

8th Grade Maker Space Elective

This half-year elective invites 8th graders to explore, create, and build. Students will have access to a variety of low tech building materials, both consumable (including upcycled materials) and non consumable materials (K'Nex building sets,

National History Day Program Co-Coordinator
