The Working-Class Families’ Anti-Hunger Act / Free & Reduced Lunch Applications

The Working-Class Families’ Anti-Hunger Act (A2368/S1677) increases the income eligibility for families to receive free or reduced lunch. Under the new law, the income eligibility level for free school meals will be adjusted up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level, meaning the children of a family of four making an annual income of up to $55,500 would now be eligible for free breakfast and lunch at school. To verify eligibility, families must complete a free and reduced lunch application for the 2023-2024 school year.  The application and related instructions regarding how to complete the application can be found here; scroll to the bottom of the page to find the Free and Reduced Lunch application and instructions to complete the form.  All applications are kept confidential. If a family received free or reduced lunch last school year must complete a new application for the 2023-2024 school year.
