Due:

Sculpture Flip-Grid Gallery Walk Through: Due Friday, May 22nd in Google Classroom

Sculpture Flip-Grid Gallery Walk Through: Due Friday, May 22nd

Everyone did such an amazing job on their sculpture. Now it is time to check everyone's hard work out!
Here is what you need to do:
1. Click on the flip grid link below.
2. Watch the videos of your classmates showing their awesome sculptures.
3. Comment on TWO videos. Here is the catch...everyone can only have 2 comments. Therefore, if 2 people already commented on a sculpture, choose someone else. That way, everyone will get comments.
4. When you are commenting, we are only saying POSITIVE remarks. Here are some talking points you may want to say:
-I really like how you...
-Your sculpture reminds me of...
-The size of your sculpture is...
-The materials of your sculpture are...
*These are only examples in case you get stuck. You do not have to use one of the talking samples.
**WHEN YOU ARE DONE GIVING YOUR TWO COMMENTS, COME BACK TO THIS ASSIGNMENT AND HIT TURN IN!

***If every video has 2 comments, then you can start adding more than two.

To leave a comment, as you are watching the video there is a talking bubble on the bottom of the screen. Simply hit the green talking bubble, and it will bring you to a screen where you can record your comment. Please make sure to use your real name, and do not cover your face with an emoji. You can fill the surrounding space, but I want to see your faces. Also, do not pixelate yourself either.

Have fun and enjoy all the great artwork!

Assignment Due May 15th in Google Classroom

Assignment Due May 15th

Sculpture Project
You will be creating your own sculpture. As we learned last week, a sculpture is an art piece that is 3D and you can view it from all sides. Within the next 4 weeks, you will be collecting items from around your house to build your very own sculpture. Here are your directions:
1. Open the "Directions_Sculpture" attachment. Collect all different materials that are on your sculpture scavenger hunt paper. This can be done during week one.
2. Week 2, look at your items and think about how you can use all of your materials to create a sculpture. Sketch out a couple different ideas. (When you are finished sketching out your ideas...minimum of 2...take a picture and insert it into the slide show on the slide labeled, sketches.)
3. The next two weeks you are going to build your sculpture. Use whatever you have at home to attach the items. Glue, tape, string, etc. You can use markers, paint, crayons, glitter, etc. to add color to your sculpture. When you are finished do the following: Click on the slide presentation, go to the slide labeled "My Final Sculpture," click insert, click image, click the camera. Take a picture of you with your sculpture. It will automatically be inserted into the slide.
4. Lastly, on the last slide, you will answer the questions that are on the slide.
Tell me the following:
a.). Title. What is your art piece called?
b.) What materials did you use?
c.) How did you get your sculpture to stick together?
d.) What was difficult about making your sculpture?
e.) What was your favorite part about making your sculpture?

Things to note:
*Your sculpture should be taller than 6 inches.
* You must be in the picture with your finished sculpture so I know that you made it. (And I miss all your faces!)
**When you are done all slides, hit TURN IN. It will not count as complete until you hit TURN IN.
*Finally...have fun! Be creative!

Assignment: Due 4/17 in Google Classroom

Assignment: Due 4/17

Our next unit of study will be sculpture. This week, I would like you to read the two articles that are attached. One is called "All About Art: A short history of sculpture" and the other is called "Artist Launches 7,500 Floating Barrels." I would like you read both articles and then click on the document that says "Sculpture Questions," and answer the questions based on your readings and thoughts. This assignment is due Friday. Please read the articles carefully and answer the questions in complete sentences. Some of the questions will be asking your opinion on the sculptures you will be seeing in the articles. Please think about your answer and write thoughtful responses. Please do not write, "I like it. I like the colors." Instead, you can write something like, "I really like this sculpture because it reminds me of...." or "I do not like this sculpture because it represents...." You should be writing more than one sentence per question. You have 3 classes to complete this assignment. When you are finished the question sheet, please make sure you hit the turn in button. It will not count as being finished until you do so. Next week, we will be making our own sculptures...so get those creative juices flowing!

*Remember, all communication needs to go through this classroom. Please do not email me. You can write on the stream board or private message me. Please remember I teach k-8th grade and may not be able to respond right away. I will be available during your class time every day and then from 1-3:15 p.m.

I look forward to reading your responses!

Assignment for 3/26-4/2: Art Bingo in Google Classroom

Assignment for 3/26-4/2: Art Bingo

Hi Everyone: **Please read ALL directions.***
I have been seeing some wonderful castle submissions. I really do appreciate you trying your best on them. Here is your next assignment. ***If you have not submitted your castle yet for today, please make every effort to do so when you can.

This assignment is for the next 5 classes. You can either take a picture every day and submit individually, or submit all 5 drawings by 3:15 next Thursday. Everyday you have class, I will write a little hello message on the stream part of our classroom. You will need to say hello, leave a little note, whatever you would like...so I know you are "present" and working on your drawing. Please make sure you do this. You are to work on your drawing for 20 minutes.

Attached is a drawing bingo board. Everyday we have art, choose ONE block and complete the drawing. Each drawing should fill one paper. This paper can be printer paper, notebook paper, or any other paper you have. You should use a pencil to draw. Add as much detail as possible. You are to "color" in your drawing with your pencil. Meaning, I want you to shade. Therefore, areas that are dark, color dark or press harder with your pencil. Areas that would be light, lightly color, or press less with your pencil. The next day we have class, you are to pick a drawing in the SAME line as your first. In five classes, you will have done all 5 drawings in ONE row. The rows can be vertical (up and down), horizontal (left to right), or diagonal. (By next Thursday you will have a BINGO line!)

-Please make sure you are placing the title of your drawing on top of your page, so I know which drawing you chose for that day.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have fun and happy drawing! -Mrs. Crannage

Thursday, March 19th Assignment in Google Classroom

Thursday, March 19th Assignment

Hi Everyone!!! Welcome to your first day of art. I am sad to not be in class with you, as Middle School art is a lot different than elementary art. Please try your best at all assignments, and make sure you follow the directions very carefully. As we move forward, please email me or comment in the classroom stream if you have any questions. I am available from 8:15-3:15 and I take my lunch from 12:45 - 1:30pm. As I teach all grade levels, I will get back to your questions as soon as possible.

Here is your assignment. Due date is TUESDAY, 3/24 at 3:15 p.m.
Materials: Paper and Pencil (coloring materials if you have them)
Objective: To design your imaginative castle
Attached on the side is a sample of a castle, ideas for details, as well as finished castles. The finished castles do not show a theme...however I do want you to include one in your castle. You are to draw a castle that is from your imagination. It must include the following:
-Theme: Examples: Cats, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Tacos, Food, Candy, etc.
-Must have windows and a door
-Must include columns
-Must include Flags and a banner with your crest/logo on it.
-Must have an environment: Example: Desert, underwater, outer space, forest, beach, etc.

A few tips:
-Your castle must be symmetric. If you place one column on the right, you have to add one to the left.
-Think about what your castle is made of. Use the reference guide that is attached for ideas.
-Columns must be curved on the top and bottom. That way they look 3-dimensional.

This is just a drawing. But if you want to color it, GO FOR IT! When finished, take a picture of it and attach it to this assignment and turn it in. Please keep this safe. You will need to bring this into class when we return.
*Extra bonus points if you take a picture of yourself drawing for the yearbook!
