Directions for Project in Google Classroom

Directions for Project

I will be adding more directions as the week goes on. Please come back to check if it has been updated.
1. Go onto Brainpop.com. In the search bar, type in Climate Change. Choose and watch 3 videos. Then, come back to this assignment and fill out the form that is attached. Hit turn in when finished.
2. Watch the Keith Haring Bio video. It is located in the Keith Haring art Sample section. Then, look through his artwork that is also attached.
3. Start thinking how you can use his style/figures to draw an art piece that shows support for your chosen climate change message. For example: If your climate change issue is plastic in the sea. Maybe you would draw one of his figures under water surround by trash in his style. Play around with different ideas and draw one final one on a free draw paper. This paper will be turned in and is worth 20 points.
4. One Mrs. C approves your drawing, draw your final drawing on the last water color paper that is in your art folder. Once finished, sharpie with thick black lines. Erase your pencil lines. Turn this in under the Chunk 2 assignment. This part is also worth 20 points.
5. Use watercolor to color in your art piece. All colors should be solid, like Haring's style. You are NOT to blend colors together. When finished, trace over any black lines that need to be traced back over. Submit a picture under Chunk 3 assignment. This is also worth 20 points.
6. Fill out the rubric. Please use full sentences when necessary. This is also worth 20 points.

It also counts as your attendance for class on Monday, November 2nd. We meet 2 out of the 3 classes via zoom. The 3rd class is on your own time. It is due by 3:15 on Monday, November 2nd.

1. If you are done working on the fruit bowl, visit the classwork tab, and click on the Logo Project directions. Follow the directions. If you were able to get to get the sketch done or work on your final assignment on the square water color paper, insert the picture and then hit turn in.
2. When you are done with your sketch for practice, you need to draw the same thing on your final paper which is the 12x12" square water color paper in your art folder. Draw in pencil. Before you sharpie you must show me. So if you finish drawing on your final paper, stop until I see you next class.
4. If I OK'd you to sharpie, please continue to do so and erase our pencil lines.
5. Paint each shape you created with watercolor. It is pop art so try and get rich/dark colors.
6. If you finish the logo project, fill out the rubric that is located in the classwork tab under the logo project topic.

Assignment for Monday, 9/21 in Google Classroom

Assignment for Monday, 9/21

READ ALL DIRECTIONS:
Today you need to work on your artwork for at least 30 minutes. We do not have a scheduled zoom meeting, but if you have any questions, please click the zoom link for open class. I will be on from 2:00 - 3:15 to answer questions. If you would like to re-see the demonstration, I can give you one during the open class zoom meeting.

Here is your assignment:
Last week we worked on your fruit bowl. Today you will draw your fruit bowl as best as you can on the final paper. Your final paper is in your art folder. Please use one of the 11"x15" water color papers. You should have 2 of them in your folder. One is for this project and the other one is for the next project. You do not get to use the second paper if you mess up. Therefore, please take your time. Today, only the PENCIL drawing of your fruit bowl is due. Do not sharpie your fruit bowl or move past these instructions. Again, today you are drawing your fruit bowl in pencil on your final project paper. Don't forget the table line!
*When finished, open the google doc that is attached and insert a pic of your drawing. Then hit TURN IN. This is worth 10 points. Do not forget this step, please.
Have fun!

Tips:
-Watercolor paper has a smooth side and bumpy side. If you can tell the difference, draw on the bumpy side. (if you can't tell the difference, don't worry about it.)
-Draw lightly. If you press too hard on watercolor paper you will not be able to erase any mistakes fully.
-Think about your composition. You should be drawing your fruit bowl bigger than on your practice sheet. Use your practice sheet as a guide. If you want to change anything, go ahead!
-It might be a good idea to look at the final project samples in the reference part of our classwork tab. That way you can eye-ball how big the fruit bowl should be on your paper.
-Don't forget to take a picture of your work today and hit TURN IN.

Today I am giving you a demonstration on our first project. Please make every effort to connect to our zoom classroom promptly at 2:35 p.m. The zoom link is in the classwork tab. (Double check you are using the correct one. It is the first zoom link).

During class you will be practicing your fruit bowl drawing. You will be using one of the 9x12 free draw papers that is included in your art supply folder (light gray in color). Please have that and a pencil ready. After class, you will need to turn in a picture of what you drew in class today. This will be worth 10 points. To do this, please click on the Google Doc that is attached to this assignment. Follow the directions on how to insert an image (In the document), then hit TURN IN.

Monday, September 14th Assignment in Google Classroom

Monday, September 14th Assignment

*Please note: Even though we are not meeting today via zoom, you are still required to work for 30 minutes in the afternoon on art every Monday.

Today's assignment is an intro to your first assignment. Our first project will be a still life combination with zentangles. Our first artwork will also be considered to be a Pop Art piece. Therefore, all you need to do is private message me (through Google Classroom) the answers to these two questions:
1. What is a zentangle?
2. What is Pop art?
*Please use Google to find your answers. Then message me the answers IN YOUR OWN WORDS....no copy pasting. You will not receive credit if you just simply copy and paste.

On Wednesday, I will give you an intro to the project and give you a demonstration. I can't wait to see you all on Wednesday!
