About Me!

I am incredibly lucky to be a part of Team Social Studies, and to get to call myself a member of the Cranbury community!

I recently graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in History and Secondary Education from The College of New Jersey Honors Program! I am certified to teach 6th-12th grade social studies, but after having completed my student teaching at Crockett Middle School in Hamilton, New Jersey, I knew middle school was the place for me!

At the end of the 2022-2023 school year, I spent some time with Mrs. Fernandez and Mrs. Burke getting to know the school and some of my future students! I am thrilled to have already been welcomed into the Cranbury community, and look forward to seeing some familiar faces in my classes!

My goal in the classroom is to create an inclusive and positive learning environment where every student can shine! I love providing options in assignments, as I feel it allows students to share their talents and express themselves, while also demonstrating their knowledge of Social Studies content. In my classroom, Social Studies content will serve as a vehicle for skills critical to building life-long learners, such as presenting, working in groups, and analytical thinking. We will look at history through a variety of different viewpoints, and try to ‘walk in the shoes’ of those who came before us.

Ultimately, though, during my first year here at Cranbury, my greatest goal is to build a classroom community that students are excited to come to each and every day! I welcome all communication throughout the school year, and believe that a strong parent-teacher-student connection is the key to success! Please feel free to reach out to me via email or phone if you have any questions or concerns.

More about me: I love reading, and my goal for this year is to read 100 books…I’m at 62 so far…this summer I had a lot of time to catch up on my reading!! I will always encourage you to find a book that you love, whether about history, or just for fun. I also love going for walks, spending time at the beach, and hanging out with my family. In addition to Social Studies, I love learning about environmental conservation, and keeping up with related current events. That is why I am also happy to share that, this year, I will also serve as a co-advisor, alongside Mrs. Burke, to the lunch club PEAC - Perspectives and Equity in Action Club.

I sincerely look forward to my first year here in the Cranbury School, and can’t wait to get to know all of my wonderful students!

Thank you!

Ms. Holt
