cranberry Marsh beginning a new school year on behalf of the cranberry Board of Education faculty and staff come to our 9th Annual back-to-school night broadcast the school year ahead is filled with opportunities for teachers and the community tonight we will highlight just a small sample of the ways we are working to enhance the cranberry School District as a faculty we kicked off the school year with a continued focus on strategic planning emphasizing creativity and social emotional learning our teachers explore the direct connections between creativity and social emotional learning through a brief study of the film and book by neuroscientist and best-selling author David Eagleman and titled The Runaway species according to Eagle the goal of creative schooling should be to consciously exercise but bending breaking and blending of ideas during the workshop are teachers identified ways to build social emotional competencies while strengthening and supporting creatively filled classroom welcome to reading workshop this year we will begin an exciting transition with the introduction of the teachers College Columbia University reading workshop units of study these units of study shape the kindergarten through fifth grade reading curriculum a research-based framework for the teaching of reading the teachers College reading and writing project is an internet do you recognize literacy approach led by Lucy Calkins our teachers attended a four-day summer Institute to learn new methods of instruction to support higher volumes of reading in their classrooms and to promote Rich Partner and small book discussions led by students the reading workshop is defined by several signature features for example every day includes an interactive read aloud followed by a mini lesson which takes place on the classroom where are young readers learn a new reading skill everyday in a reading workshop classroom students make individual book selections based on their reading levels and their interest areas establishing daily read routines at home is essential to the success of this program all students will bring a book baggie home every week with new books to read these routines help to create lifelong readers and promote the home to school connection in preparation for this new reading curriculum we delivered brand-new curated classroom libraries to our teachers and fusing cranberry classrooms with over 8,000 new richly varied culturally diverse books Chelsea PTO in board of education for making a possible for us to enrich our classrooms with these wonderful resources to support our reading goals and to all the volunteers who helped the stamp in level the books we thank you we hope these changes will side are young readers and improve their fluency comprehension and contribute to their independence as they build a critical thinking skills necessary for thriving in the 21st century we believe it all begins with early literacy my mom and dad started from Tony and Foodservice 1959 I remember my parents dedication to Bringing quality food to school lunches different than a lot of the other companies are people are food people we handle a lot of the paperwork our cafeteria operations in our back office and allow our people to excel in the kitchen making sure that they're proud of menu items at they're producing each day in this Pride shows do not consume enough fruits and vegetables and outcome Tony and we are looking to bridge that Gap pomptonian Farm to trade program is unique in a sense that each month we highlight one little fruit and one local vegetable from surrounding Farms Toby came up with the Farmstand concert is a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and lots of Studies have said that if you can choose what fresh fruit and vegetable you want to eat you have a better chance of the children actually eating that students have Deja likes up wake the kids just love love. apple contact Whole Foods Panera at Wegmans and chipotle pomptonian is trending with these kind of Concepts and the kids love it so we do everything from the omelets we do sushi promotions we just brought on Street Taco promotions along with you and Gromit the idea of being able to pick out their topping to actually helps kids try new things that they actually would have tried before honestly next to come back around they're asking what are you coming are you coming back tomorrow or you coming back next week funny and has Decades of experience. I highly dedicated employees are people love the kids are people love working in the schools but their creation for that day and bring them into the cafeteria in a warm welcoming environment to ensure our leadership is we're constantly training our people we want to make sure that I'm using up at safety practices food safety is number one the communities we serve our award-winning menu design results and higher sound beats the economic efficiency it's very competitive field that we operate in but when you take the time to service the customers and design menus that are peeling to the students and to the parents of like we have been able to enjoy unprecedented customer retention is very proud of the recognition and awards that we received over the years in that continent has the most nutritional words in the state of New Jersey what are the words that were the most proud of his for our invention of the Farmstand service is known for treating your kids just like they treat their own kids is a way to highlight recipes that be strict nutrition guidelines use wholesome ingredients and incorporate scratch prep cooking while Tony and has earned its reputation the years by never resting on our Laurels are there a new customer or whether we've been serving them for over 50 years or commitment remains to meeting and exceeding expectations with students and their parents it's our top priority as Vehicles enter the parking lot ask that you proceed slowly 5 miles an hour please students in grades 5 through 8 should be dropped off at the 97 entrance next to the Rock and younger students should enter through the auditorium doors vehicles to drive up to the sign at each entrance and student should exit swiftly on the curb side as a reminder parent should not get out of the car due to oncoming traffic when children are safely on sidewalk parents should drive away from the drop-off area so that the next vehicle in line may pull up don't forget to merge with 3 traffic and come to a complete stop at the signs crosswalks are clearly for pedestrian safety driver's please remain alert for pedestrian Crossings driving through designated parking spots can be dangerous you will notice that we have installed cones as a preventative measure fine when exiting the parking lot at arrival or dismissal time please stop at the sign and use a turn signal to assist the police officers who are directing traffic parents should not Park in the lot near town hall or near the Bell Studio Nook during dismissal thank you for your partnership to ensure safety and prevent accidents the cranberry Education Foundation and the Cranbury school PTO what tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of our students and the broader School Community specifically they support and pursue creative ideas this year these two outstanding organizations have teamed up the offer third through eighth grade students after school classes designed to offer Hands-On enrichment experiences with science technology engineering art and Mathematics or steam during the Robotics and Engineering class students will work in teams to design and build robots to perform Pacific task and modify the sequence of communication between the robot and programmer students will use the Engineering Process as they test and refine their robot dance with an engage in competition focusing on civil engineering students design create test and refine a balsa wood bridge design to withstand the greatest Force they will discover how the forces of tension compression bending torsion and Shear are distributed throughout their structures overall the combined course this is Ian to use engineering design science programming skills math and creativity during the coding game design and Engineering class students work in teams to design and create a racing game cancel create a storyboard to identify and capture the rules of play and characters for the game and then use clickteam Fusion 2.5 to bring the story board to life the second part of his class is mechanical engineering design test and refine a variety of machines and mechanical systems as they learn the basics of fluid mechanics simple machines and other design and Engineering Concepts 1/3 course offered this year is 3D printer art will use their creative skills to design and create 3D objects by using tinkercad the cranberry Education Foundation donated to additional 3D printers this year bring the school's total to for this is very exciting for our teachers and students please visit our website for more information the school year ahead is filled with Limitless possibilities each day are dedicated and caring teachers Challenge and support students to achieve their personal. in the words of Margaret Mead never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world indeed it is the only thing that ever has
