Today we will continue our Epic book conferences with our Friday groups. The rest of the time, you should be working on reading and PINing and/or composing your letter to your 8th grade graduating self (in the Classwork tab). Make it good--it is a future present to yourself!!!!

As stated, for this week you should ideally have read and PINned your whole book by your conference. Have your google doc ready (and on your screens) for when we conference. Let us know where you are with your reading in your conference or through email. We'd rather you have good notes and understand your reading rather than speed through your reading without getting it or enjoying it.

a.) working on reading and PINing. (Remember, I can see how many minutes you are reading every day.)

AND/OR

b.) drafting your letter to your 8th grade graduating self. Really put time and effort and detail into your letter--it is a gift to yourself in the future, so make it a fantastic one!

As stated, for this week you should ideally have finished your book by your conference (but email or speak to us if you need more time for a longer book.)

Remember that you should have a shared google doc with lots of PINs on it! Have that google doc ready (and on your screens) for when we conference this morning.

Some do-yourself exercises for Character (dynamic, static, round, flat):

Please watch the linked video about the types of character. When you get to the part about protagonist/antagonist, you can stop. Add the minutes there. (Only watch the explanations of the 4 types: dynamic, static, round, flat.)


Attendance question: Please comment on how one of the character types applies to a character from a movie or book that must people would know (eg. Avengers, Little Women, Freak the Mighty). In 1-2 sentences, explain how the label applies to that character.
